Saturday, April 22, 8pm: Centennial Judy: A Love Letter in Song with Mary-Catherine Pazzano @ Registry Theatre, Kitchener

When MC heard Judy sing Over the Rainbow at 1 year old, her future as a singer was set in motion. Garland is the reason MC sings. Join Mary-Catherine for a two-act, jazzy tribute to Judy in song. The first act will lovingly reflect the songbook of Garland’s prolific MGM film career– hear Garland faves such as “The Trolley Song”, “Get Happy”, “The Boy Next Door”, “On the Atchison Topeka and the Santa Fe”, as well as lesser-known gems/Pazzano’s personal faves from the Garland film canon. The second act will go beyond MGM and shine the spotlight on Garland’s post-film concert career. Hear gems like “Zing! Went the Strings of My Heart”, “The Man That Got Away”, “Almost Like Being in Love/This Can’t Be Love”, and much more! Mary-Catherine will put her own jazz spin on the Judy songbook, while resurrecting some of Garland’s most-loved arrangements. PLUS, John Fricke will also be on hand to offer a brief summary of Judy’s film and stage careers at the top of each act, lending a touch of history about those stages of Judy’s career and repertoire. This event is taking place as part of Mary Catherine Pazzano’s “A Judy Garland Centennial Celebration.”

Pazzano will be joined by a fabulous band: Mark Eisenman, Piano; Jason Hunter, Sax; Pat Collins, Bass; Steve James, Drums
