Described as a rising star of the Canadian music scene and as a performer who has her “audience enthralled throughout the entire show”, Mary-Catherine is a jazz vocalist, voice teacher, and music educator based in Kitchener. Mary-Catherine’s passion has always been singing and performing. She loves exploring the endless repertoire of The Great American Songbook, and making the sublime lyrics her own with a nostalgic, yet modern, flair.
Mary-Catherine’s performance highlights include a tour of New Zealand, appearances at the Uptown Waterloo Jazz Festival, The Rex (Toronto), a soloist with the K-W Symphony, and multiple concerts at The Jazz Room.
When Mary-Catherine isn’t performing, she operates a voice studio, and is Founder and Artistic Director of Jazz in the Schools, a program dedicated to bringing music education to high school students in need of a creative outlet. She also directs Jazz for Adults, which will run as a week-long vocal/instrumental camp at The Beckett School @Laurier from July 17-21, with local favourite Tim Louis among the instructors.
Mary-Catherine is currently recording her debut album, “You’re Gonna Hear From Me,” and is honoured to be recording with Pat Collins, Don Buchanan, Jason Hunter, and Steve James. It is slated for release in October, 2017.
